Shotgun News 3/11/2019

From Larry Dark

Howdy,

Spring countdown 10 days.

Well we had a great turn out for 5 stand, there were a lot of targets broke and quite a few flew away unscathed. But that’s what makes it fun. As the weather gets better we will have more and more show up to shoot. Its definitely time to get the smooth bores out, and blow the cobwebs out of the barrels.

If you don’t have your keys to the skeet and trap fields yet you can contact Joe Trujillo.

Also if you need your key replaced you can call me at home 423.477.3314 or call my asst at the dealership (Johnson City Honda), her name is Carrie Silvis and her direct number is 423.722.6114, and she can always track me down. I’ve copied her on the email so she is in the loop. If I’m out of town she will be able to handle the key transfer at the dealership if you like.

Tuesday 3/12 Open practice on the hill. Skeet and Trap ranges should be open by 4:30p . Bring lots of shells and get in a few rounds.

Thursday 3/14 Youth practice starts at 5:30p (there will be a skeet and trap field available for members.)

Friday 3/15 Arts old Farts will be sharpening their already substantial skills with a shotgun. Ranges will be open by 9:30a and they will shoot till around noon.

Saturday 3/16 Cherokee will host the monthly tournament . This will be two rounds of either trap or skeet or both. You have to shoot both to be in the running for high gun overall. We try to encourage our youth to shoot in these weekend competitions , this is very good practice for them. As a club we do discounted rates for young people 16 and under. We also will do a high gun trophy for both male and female youth shooters.  There will be a meal served looks like we may do another Pheasant feed for this shoot.  You don’t want to miss this shoot even if its just for the meal. Bob Minke will dazzle us with his culinary skills.

Hope to see everyone around the range.
