From Larry Dark: Howdy
I hope everyone had a great Labor Day Weekend. Now its back to grind, but we still have a lot of shotgunning opportunities .
We have shot a lot of targets this summer. Paul has a truck load of targets scheduled to arrive on 9/13 . We will need lots of hands on deck when the truck arrives. I will send out another email next week with times. Thanks in advance for all the help.
Tuesday 9/3 Open practice on the hill. Skeet and Trap fields will be open by 4:30p for your shooting enjoyment. This is a great time to get started if your new to the shotgunning game. Everyone is more than happy to help you get started.
Tuesday 9/3 Five Stand League. We will be ready by 4:30p . After we get the league shooters through we can shoot practice rounds if anyone wishes.
Thursday 9/5 Cherokee Rod and Gun Club Monthly Meeting. Meeting starts at 7p most folks show up around 6:30. There is a meal available. I know most of our membership doesn’t attend the meetings, and that’s OK. But if you want to know what all is happening with Cherokee , come on out. All of the program heads will give an update on the programs they are involved in and it may be something that you would like to take part.
Friday 9/6 Arts old Codgers will take the hill by 9a to show off their shooting prowess. Even these seasoned shooters like to get in some practice. If you are off on Fridays they would love to have you. It doesn’t matter your experience level. New to old, there is a lot of knowledge available to give pointers on the game. (Don’t feel intimidated, I have even seen Art miss a couple targets)
Saturday 9/7 Kettlefoot will host the monthly trophy shoot. There will be a meal served. Sign ups start at 9a
Sunday 9/8 Second Sunday 5 stand. starts by noon and runs till everyone runs out of shells or 5p which ever occurs first (generally around 3p ) You have seen a lot of 5 stand shooting in the past month. Its because its a lot of fun! Its a practice course for sporting clays , the fastest growing clay target game in the US. It has many different presentations and can be very challenging. There are very few “clean rounds” shot on our course. A good starting score is going to be between a 10 and 15 out of 25. But you will soon be breaking 18-20’s . Warning …..this can be addictive. Bring lots of shells and come on out.
Hope to see everyone around the range ld
