From Larry Dark: Howdy
Well we are ready to start a new month of shooting opportunities here at Cherokee and around the region. We had shooters on the shotgun range all weekend, with 5 stand on Saturday and an impromptu shoot on Sunday afternoon. With about 22 pretty regular shooters taking advantage of our 5 stand last month. Scores are recorded and kept for 5 stand , if the shooter runs at least 3 rounds they are automatically in the running for the monthly league. Below are the rankings for August 5 stand….Congrats Mike.
We also had some shooters make the trek to Watauga (Boone) to shoot in there monthly ATA shoot, Clay Klingensmith, Lee Perry & Joe Trujillo made the trip, with Lee Perry winning class in doubles with a 90 out of 100 and Joe winning class in singles with 97 out of 100.
Last I heard Cheorkee still had shotgun shells available at the clubhouse. Anytime Joe Trujillo, Charlie Dove, or Bob Minke are there they can sell them to you. They can also set you up with the promatic cards for the skeet and trap fields.
*Open practice on the hill. Skeet and trap ranges open by 2p
Thursday 9/1 (Dove season opener!)
*Cherokee Rod and Gun Club monthly meeting. Meeting starts at 7p , a meal is available.
If you are new to the club or an old timer that would like to know what goes on….come out to the meeting. All of the chairmen and event heads will give a report on their events. There is a very good chance you will hear something that you may want to get involved in.
*Arts old Codgers will be on the hill shooting trap and skeet. They get started around 9a and shoot till lunch time. If your off on Fridays they would love for you to join them.
*Kettlefoot will host the monthly trophy shoot. Sign ups at 9a . A meal is available but not included.
*Unaka will open their 5 stand at 12p. They welcome Cherokee shooters to join them
